About this speaker

Dr. Whitney Moore is an Associate Professor of Exercise and Sport Sciences in the Division of Kinesiology, Health & Sport Studies at Wayne State University. Her research focuses on how coaches can maximize athletes’ motivation to participate in sport and future physical activity. In addition to publishing research articles, she enjoys bringing research supported practices to coaches through applied articles and workshops. Before pursuing her PhD, Whitney lived in Tucson, Arizona and ran an athleticism training company primarily training youth (8-18 years old), including competitive tennis players. She is still a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist with Distinction by the National Strength & Conditioning Association. As a former coach, Dr. Moore enjoys sharing and discussing research-supported strategies with coaches through presentations and publications to help coaches in their quest to motivate all their athletes of any age and skill level. She has presented at the USPTA Midwest Symposium and the USPTA Michigan Tennis Coaches’ Workshop. Karynn Glover is finishing her PhD with an emphasis on sport psychology at Wayne State University. Her primary interest is on developing materials that support coaches’ development of an optimal motivational climate for all their athletes. Previously, she presented at the USPTA Midwest Michigan Mini Conference.
